We did a 2 part shoot:

Part 1:
We shot with a beautiful 1965 Chevy Impala with a flake paint job that sparkled diamonds in the sun light! The awesome wheels were courtesy of Al from Rydaz4Life. We shot in a graffiti alley just off of Queen Street West.

Part 2:
We shot at Wildside Motorcycles with two custom choppers. The main bike we shot with was black with a spine airbrushed down the tank and fenders (what a sick bike), that bike was courtesy of bike owner Scott Kline.

In the world of Hollywood comparing women and replacing is as common as changing your underwear every morning or every two days for the dirty ones. “I made myself so disturbed while shooting that I wanted to feel the -30 degree weather when shooting the prostitute, junkie with amnesia scenes”. I don't know about you, but their is nothing that will make me want to go outside for extended periods of time if it's below zero.

There is something very interesting to be said about this title “MF of the North”! In 2009 Veronika London splashed onto our TV screen on the HBO TV-series “Lingerie” and was tagged by Maxim the "Megan Fox of the North". Like it or not, the comparison gave her international exposure and signaled that she was been anointed one of the next big things. To London the “title” meant that they have similar traits they live by “freedom, confidence and seduction”. Throughout 2010 it became apparent that they did display similar characteristic at times but their “style” is very different. London’s authentic edgy “New York” style is very apparent in the film Jane Doe, where she plays a liberated street smart young woman that enters the dark side. She was quoted from SMM magazine that she “connects better with these unconventional roles”. She then adds “I made myself so disturbed while shooting that I wanted to feel the -30 degree weather when shooting the prostitute, junkie with amnesia scenes”. This is definitely an extreme and a role that we have not seen Megan Fox play. As London’s career progresses and the comparison still stands, Veronika has a very good chance of really going up against the outspoken controversial Fox. When she was asked how she feels about the whole business in a nutshell Veronika said “it’s not enough to just be extremely talented, this business is a mastermind marketing mind F*** that deal with illusion and money”…that’s a very interesting answer London! Angelina Jolie once said something very similar and look at her!!

How did others react when you got this title “MF of North”?

Lol, they laughed….but I knew I was going to have the last laugh. I saw and can see the big pictures of how this business really works to get to superstardom.

We noticed that in some of your early modelling work your “style” was more theatrical and then you went all Maxim, what happened?

I never considered myself model, it was always and will always be a form of expression. Every picture I have taken means something to me. I have hardly shot anything that I don’t truly feel.

What’s next?

Apart from shooting two features this month of Feb- maybe some downtime…lol yeah right…who are we kidding- I’m a restless workaholic.

One year: That's all it took for 22-year-old brunette bombshell Veronika London to outsmart the Americans and become big. As a small-town Torontonian/Canadian, Veronika's what the US entertainment industry sees as a "rags to riches," Cinderella-type story. But, don't be fooled by Veronika's exotic beauty and mesmerizing body. Sexy and smart, she is now completing her BA in Marketing, since, according to her, "this business seems to be 40% talent and 70% marketing. Modelling is just part of the marketing that one needs to do as an actress." In other words, Veronika knows that model-type looks are essential in the media.

And it shows she knows...being branded as "The Megan Fox of Hollywood North" - and compared to American sex bomb legends Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie - in her 2009 feature spread written by Maxim Magazine. So, it's ironic that on "Body Language," Veronika portrays an amateur photographer. "It was actually rather strange to be behind the camera," she admits. "I find that when I'm disturbed about 50% of the time, I can tap into dark roles very quickly and feel comfortable with them."

Veronika: I don't think about titles. I actually think it's kind of silly and still trying to figure out what that title means. Ultimately apart from being a "sex-pot" which I have been categorized under, I think talent and giving back is what will give artists longevity and credibility- which I strive for.

FERNTV: Stars like Neve Campbell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kathy Bates and Sissy Spacek became huge stars after performing in some of the best horrors film...do you feel that horror movies are always a good start to someone's acting career even today?

Veronika: I'm very new to this horror genre, I usually stick to more dramatic reckless roles like "Jane Doe" were I play a prostitute/heroin addict. I kinda just landed in these horror film roles by coincidence, the opportunities came up and I ran with them. Although, I remember last year when I shot the trailer for Naked Fury, one of my first horror gigs with director Ingrid Johanson, I was kinda turned off with this genre after shooting a scene and getting the blood pumped up my nose (it slipped out of my mouth) when i was biting off drenched bloody pieces of meat off the actors neck ...lol...yup the glamorous life of an actress :) ....Although times have changed- and I've grown to love being a bloody scream queen. Ultimately I don't think their is a specific way to start an actors career or even a map follow. You just have to take advantage of opportunities that come up and exploit them yourself to the max.

FERNTV: Can you explain how it was like to work with "Black Eve" director Ryan Andrews?

Veronika: He was so amazing. I really like when directors let actors own their character and let them make their own choices with how they want to play a character and control the scene. I find that's when I have the most fun on set. Ryan stepped in when mannerisms needed to get tweaked or get a greater performance from the actors- I was happy he wasn't like Hitler or anything on set.

FERNTV: You play a pregnant nun in Black Eve...what is like to play a character that is somewhat of a oxymoron?

Veronika: So much fun, I love playing careless controversial character that doesn’t give a sh*t, which was like the nun. I did find it interesting though that my role was brought on to add a big part of the movies sexual chemistry even though it seemed like I was wearing more clothes than than the other actresses.

FERNTV: You were featured in Fangoria for Black Eve, how did that feel?

Veronika: It was awesome to see my pic on the site. I can't wait to actually score cover on that magazine one day!

FERNTV: What was your first horror type role?

Veronika: It was for a short called “Stripped” with director Mike Klassen. It was a fun role- I got to kick some butt in it which is always fun. The end of the result was like a Quentin Tarantino grindhouse movie.

FERNTV: Does the combination of horror/gore and comedy in the movie "Elusive Man" make it similar to that of the cult classic like "Shaun of the Dead" or a lot more like "Reservoir Dogs"

Veronika: Definitely more like "Reservoir Dogs". There are only split second scenes where the film adds humour to break all the gore.

FERNTV: How were you approached for both of the movie “The Elusive Man”?

Veronika: I auditioned for the Elusive Man. My role of head mobster was initially supposed to be for a male/small person. After auditioning for the female gold-digger role, I apparently played the role too demanding and strong so they asked me to read for the male. The producers/directors liked how I read the material and decided to change the male role to female and change the dialogue to Spanish since I'm Spanish.

FERNTV: What did it feel like to act in Spanish?

Veronika: It felt great. Up until this point it never occurred to me how I could use my native language to my advantage in this industry - it seems to be a commodity right now as their aren't many young Spanish actress in the public eye.

FERNTV: What's in store for you in the near future and what do you think you will be dressing up as for Halloween?

Veronika: I'll be collaborating with Ryan again from Black Eve for another feature and Paul Roberts to potentially shoot “Burning Amber”. In addition I might be working this fall with upcoming Canadian film director Philip Carrer (If a Tree falls- premiering at Fantasia 2010) and Canadian rising actors Ryan Barret and Emily Alatalo in a psychological horror/thriller. I'll also be hosting the Toronto Scream Fest 2010 this Fall. I'm kinda just falling into these horror type roles right now but I'll be sure to give them great reckless controversial depth and be in your face because that's what I'm good at. As for Halloween I think this year I will dress up as something pretty like a mermaid year round make up artist just seem to make me look distorted, bloody or like drug addict.

Only one question really matters. Who is Jane Doe?

SYNOPSIS

Who is Jane Doe? That's the question everybody wants an answer to, including herself. Jane Doe, played by Veronika London (Body Language, HBO series "Lingerie") is a young prostitute and heroin addict found by paramedics laying on the street in a pool of blood. She is the victim of a violent altercation which leaves her with a severe head injury. Stricken by amnesia and struggling with her heroin addiction, she is on a quest to discover her identity but most importantly who did this to her and why. Along her quest she comes along several characters from her past and the clues to the answers she seeks slowly come to light, revealing many horrible truths. With this information, feelings of curiosity quickly turn to a thirst for retribution.

ABOUT THE FILM

"Jane Doe" goes into production in January 2010 with principal photography lasting 30 days. The majority of the film will be shot in Toronto, Canada with additional scenes to be shot in Los Angeles for a supporting role to be played by a celebrity actor. We are currently in negotiations with a few Hollywood names to play this role and once that has been secured we will make the information public. A rough cut of the film is scheduled to be completed by end April 2010, in time for submission to the Toronto International Film Fest. A final cut of the film will be ready by end June of the same year for festivals and distribution.

In a Cinema Verité style, the movie "Jane Doe" will capture the raw essence and gritty, dog eat dog nature of the streets Jane Doe was raised on. ***Blame***
When it comes to why we don’t have something some of us are notorious in the blame game. They will blame everyone and every circumstance as to why they don’t have what they desire. They blame society, friends, their job etc. It is not fun being around these people and I don’t suggest you hang around them as bad energy is contagious. Elaborates more in book.

***Justify***
When you justify you rationalize by saying it’s not important. The reality is that you are just fooling yourself because more than half the time it is important otherwise you would think about it so much. We live in an image based society, image is very important. If you didn’t make your job, friends, family, you car important, you wouldn’t have it for very long. Elaborates more in book.

***Complainers***
This is the worst thing you can do to your health. First, “whatever you focus on expands” so other things in your life will go wrong and “likes attract likes”. So if your attitude is negative, that is exactly the type of people that you will attract and trust me they will not serve you! Have you noticed complainers also always seem to have a hard life? The only reason why people complain so much is because they are failing in someway shape of form and need to reduce stress by complaining about it. Better yet if they team up with someone else that complains about how miserable their life is then they feel better about themselves.
One thing is for sure, in order to maintain something, you must make it important. Remind yourself that you are creating your life and that at every moment you will be attracting either success or crap into your life. Choose you’re thoughts, words and friends wisely! Elaborates more in book!

Everyone has a blueprint. A blueprint is like cabinet files that we have in our brain. It’s how we think and react to things based on previous experiences or through what we see. Just like there are outer laws to being successful such as training and eating right there are inner laws that are essential to be able to follow through with the outer laws. Why is your blue print so essential? How is your blue print created? How are we conditioned?

Their are three aspects of conditioning that determine your life: verbal programming, modeling and specific incident. In part two of this book you will learn how to recondition yourself. For now, lets go through each aspect of reconditioning to learn why it is so important to be aware of your blue print to gain the exact results you want to be successful.

There are four key elements to change: Awareness- you can’t change something unless you know it exists. Recently I received a press release from a public relations rep. regarding Veronika London, an up and coming Canadian model/actress, heralded by Maxim magazine as the Megan Fox of the North… so I was immediately not interested, as this was the second Canadian model I’d heard described as such. No offense to either of these ladies, as it’s no fault of their own that a comparison to Megan Fox garners more attention than none, but my opinion is one that favours authenticity over imitation… but enough about me- I’m happy to announce that the LDU endorses Veronika London as 100% awesome.

Not only is Veronika a certified bombshell, her expertise in martial arts makes her a natural candidate for Canada’s next great cinematic femme fatale! As it turns out Veronika has already starred in a number of movies and TV features, including HBO series Lingerie. In addition to that she recently finished shooting for Showtime’s highly anticipated 2nd Season of Body Language, where she plays an aspiring photographer by day and a seductive stripper by night. So first of all, why “London”? Are you from London, On? A UWO girl maybe?
Not exactly, I went to Vegas last year and won a lot of money gambling on roulette. The brand name of the wheel was London and that’s when I made it part of my name.

Ok. Not a UWO girl. Did you go to university/college? If so how was the experience?

Yeah I went to college for theatre. If I could do it over, no I wouldn’t go to college, but rather take side classes and pursue acting full on.

What’s your favourite city in Ontario to party in?

Toronto, the nightlife is kickin’ year round, but especially during patio season.

If we run into you at a bar or an event, what drink should we buy you?
I drink either chocolate martini’s or straight vodka. So you can get me a vodka and I’ll wash it down with a martini :)

Ok, let’s talk career. You’ve been featured in a number of films and TV spots, with more on the way. What should we go back and look up?

HBO- “Lingerie” was my lucky break which is what got me the most attention after I had a “love scene” with my co-star.

What’s coming up that we shouldn’t miss?

Showtime’s second season of “Body Language” in Spring, Toro-TV segment “Damage Control” and Feature Film “Jane Doe” in Fall.

Maxim has called you the “Megan Fox of the North”… how do you feel about that comparison?

I think she is so amazing. I highly take that as an awesome compliment.

Other than Megan Fox, would you draw any parallels between yourself and another Hollywood actress(es)?

Angelina Jolie. In the movie “Jane Doe” most of the scenes are very raw and edgy. That’s how I see Angelina. Mind you she is beyond my scope, however I do aspire to be a great actress like her!

In case we have an exclusive on our hands… Have you slept with Tiger Woods?

London’s next project will be sure to put her on the map and showcase her acting abilities. The title character, Jane Doe, played by Veronika London (Showtime’s “Body Language,” HBO series “Lingerie” and our lovely product model!) is a young prostitute and heroin addict found by paramedics laying on the street in a pool of blood. She is the victim of a violent altercation which leaves her with a severe head injury. Stricken by amnesia and struggling with her heroin addiction, she is on a quest to discover her identity, but most importantly who did this to her and why. Along her quest she comes along several characters from her past and the clues to the answers she seeks slowly come to light, revealing many horrible truths. With this information, feelings of curiosity quickly turn to a thirst for retribution.”Jane Doe” goes into production in January 2010 with principal photography lasting 30 days. The majority of the film will be shot in Toronto, Canada with additional scenes to be shot in Los Angeles.

Passion- anger management- self destruction

I've been described as a very passionate person when I lose my temper. I personally don't get why people would call my lack of being able to control my emotions or how to communicate with people properly passionate.

I recently pulled a "Christian Bale" on some people and it sucked having to apologize all because I got frustrated and took out my frustrations on others. In my industry people skills and being lovable is absolutely critical. After that experience I've taken it upon my self to take anger management classes as well as "How to get anyone to do anything" type of courses.

I never realized how much I needed to improve my listening skills in order to have a winning conversations. "Winning conversations" are described as: meeting the needs of both parties. This involves finding out what the other person wants, meeting their needs and in return you will get what you want effortless!

I'm not very happy of the way I use to deal with things before but I sure I'm happy now that I am making it a new habit to be rational, think and listen :)

I was watching Pamela Anderson's bio a few nights ago. I personally admire how the the blonde bombshell made a career out of her image. She is extremely business smart and I admire that quality in people.

She said something that really caught my attention: "Don't be the wife, be the mistress, they get all the good stuff".

This comment really made me think. Coming out of a serious relationship the last thing I want is to settle down again. As I'm getting more attention with projects I work on, I find it so interesting how men approach me with offers when they are married or have girlfriend.

I have always had the desire to be an exotic dancer. One thing I like about film is that it gives me an excuse to do things that I have secretly always wanted to do.

Recently I got booked on Showtime's tv series "Body Language". I was originally cast for one episode and when I went for the fitting this morning, the director gave me a different recurring role.

My character's name is Luz and I'll be appearing in four episodes now. Luz has a major attitude problem. She is like "Amanda" from the old Melrose Place!

After booking the role I had to take pole dancing, chair dancing and strip tease classes. I NEVER thought playing a stripper would be hard work!

On the bright side, booking this part has forced me to get back in shape...lol

Starting late October I will be working on the Indie Feature Film "Mvnera".

Storyline: A clandestine operation whose key agenda is the retention of Roman traditions in contemporary society – proposes a unique opportunity to a down trodden malcontent.

My character: Alina,rational young woman with designs on becoming the most successful and notorious assassin the world has ever seen.

I'm really looking forward to shooting this project. One thing I have learned about assassins is that they are always calm and in control. Some of their calm traits should really leak into my life. ! :)

A turning point in her career was a much anticipated love scene in the HBO’s new series Lingerie. “The producers and director were trying to make me as comfortable as possible. At first, I was a little hesitant, but in the end I just went with it”. I am more comfortable taking on intense roles. The roles that I am now choosing prove that! I am huge on doing the background and research needed to become a character. I'm a fan of method acting now and getting lost in a character. It is so much fun ....(at times).... :)

Aside from the usual meetings with the director for script analysis to prep, I get asked by directors to watch certain movies, interview certain people, shadow people etc.!

For an upcoming role I hit : CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) on Queen street. Wow...did I ever learn a lot about people, nurses and doctors. I walked out of this place appreciating life a million times more!

I'm always curious how people end up at these places or even homeless for that matter! What goes on through these people minds? I mean, based on the whole craze right now with the book "The SEcret"- their whole theory is "whatever you focus on expands".

Did some of these people really focus on ending up with nothing?

Fitting/New weight

So I had to gain about 15 pounds for some roles that I'm working on now...personally i feel bigger and I miss my smaller frame but the roles demand a "healthy " image....

mind you ..this healthy look is a result of eating everything and anything for the past two weeks...! I've been literally stuffing my face with chocolate, pizza, chips at all hours of the day - ! I don't promote this...but it was a last minute situation!

My new weight seems to be a hit too! Personally I'm REALLY looking forward to dropping these extra 15 pounds. I had a fitting today for some dresses that are being made for me to wear at some TIFF events and i was just not feeling my confident self in the dresses!

Can't wait to slim down :)

So I'm not one to hang out with loud, animated- stand up kinda guys. I always thought that they would always be "ON" and never show their true self.

My feelings have changed though...I've been hanging out with Chris Violette and he seems to be a really down to earth person even though he is cracking jokes all the time. The great thing is I'm always laughing and his jokes keep me on my toes in some ways! He has done some of the most random things that have left me shocked and interested!

I guess his outgoing attitude goes hand in hand with the fact that he is in the business!On another note I've realized I find it so much easier to relate, date and be friends with people in the entertainment industry :) They don't think I'm weird when I talk about method acting and all the other things that go on in this fun business :)

THEIR IS NOTHING WORSE THAN LIVING AN ORDINARY LIFE

My guidance counsellor once told me-" People that pursue a career in film and television are crazy". I now agree! Actors expose themselves, put themselves through humiliation, rejection and constant criticism. Unlike most people that have memories that they choose to forget we tap into dark things to bring scripts to life. Sometimes the cost of doing that is very painful but it becomes therapy in the end!

I've recently started using method acting for more of my projects! Method acting is great for comedy but for playing very dark- psychotic roles it can be tough! I never thought that I would lose myself in a character - but I did! All the bad traits bleed into my life and I couldn't get out! I've always been a very focused person and feeling lost is quite possibly the hardest thing for me to understand!

Sometimes I think I love using method acting because it allows me to escape fully from me- I have created a life that I don't really have anything left to go back too! I purposely created that- I KNOW IT....in my mind it's an easy way to deal with the demands of the industry at times. ... ( i have nothing holding me back...however I feel I have nothing keeping me grounded). I guess I will figure it all out one day!

For the time being...I realized - their is nothing worse than living an ordinary life! My world is so unreal and screwed up at times...and I love that! All uncertainty- no security.....just freedom to create whatever I want and play whoever I want you to see! That's right....I'm playing...and just letting you see what I want you to see- or so I think! It has become hard to tell nowadays who i am after playing so many different characters back to back...

I guess the question I will ask myself now is...Who do I want to be ?

I LOVE THIS INDUSTRY- the good the bad...the fucked up part...ALL :)

ps- the title of this blog was inspired by the movie "American Beauty". I watched it with my co-star Jonathan Steen the other night. The second movie we watched was American Psycho. I was feeling kinda low and after watching these movies...something clicked in my head. I became grateful for the good and the bad and doing what I love to do- Living a far from ordinary life! Even though it can be very tough at times....it's very exciting - I thrive off challenges and change! Thanks Johny for those eye-opening days!

TOO SKINNY- TOO BIG

Criticism goes with this business. In the past 4 months my weight has been an issue. I'm too skinny - I'm getting big.

Here is what I have learned: Based on understanding the industry:

I must be hot and look good! If the role demands that I gained or lose weight- I will! Off screen - I am the hot Megan Fox of the North! By nature I am small framed and I exercise a lot! I tend to be smaller than most woman and I'm sick of people telling me I'm too skinny
!

Whatever...screw everyone...I feel good and that is all that matters!

I MADE MY MOM REACT TO THE MOMENT

Last week I spent a day with my mom. We started talking about my career and she said " how hard can it be to just say words"! Then I said " Mom - acting is just reacting to what is happening that moment".

Then I gave her a scene from the script I am working on! The scene is saying good bye to a loved one! Then I told my mom "imagine that you were never going to see me again - how would you feel".....Her natural reaction was resisting what I was saying but when she let go - she started crying non stop and hugged me.....LOL...then i told her to say the lines and her acting became real...!

It was great to see that she let go and trust that she would be okay if she tapped into that feeling! My mom said "You're crazy to be in this industry to mess with yourself" and I said " I KNOW but the thought of living in an unreal world fascinates me".

OVERLOAD- BREAKDOWNS

I have been extremely lucky to have several projects go at the same time. Although sometimes saying no is essential. A few weeks ago I reached a point that I was completely overwhelmed and broke down! But mostly because I have having to play different characters and never gave myself the time to return to me!

I LOVE playing screwed up characters- really edgy! I have noticed that the projects I shoot are a reflection of how I feel in my life! I did the same thing when I use to model!

Acting and photography is my therapy ! I take what I feel and release it through my craft! My dream was once to play an action superhero- that has changed! During that time that I wanted to just "kick ass" I was angry in my life. Now you could say I'm trying to find myself - hence choosing projects of people that are confused, lost, drug addicts , strippers, psychos...etc !

Now it's not so much about playing action heroes but I LOVE being able to release what I feel through characters! I LOVE letting go and tapping into the pain and pleasure in my life bring a script to life! It is so powerful!

What I have learned: Take it easy with taking on 10000 projects at once...lol....! - Trust, believe and have faith!

NEW BLOOD- POSITIVE ATTITUDE

I seem to inspire people when I talk to them! Although others tell me "be in this business for years and I'm sure you will get jaded". Truth is I already hit that point- but snapped out of it! I returned to the reasons of why I once got into the entertainment industry and reassessed my life.

What I don't understand with people is why would they stay in an industry that they hate or don't enjoy anymore! Especially acting!- it is so inconsistent! If your not happy go find something else! A positive attitude is essential in this business!

What I have learned: Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it! You don't like the way you feel then change the meaning!

RELATIONSHIPS

I wrote in my last blog about relationships and support. To my surprise the people that I thought were friends really weren't. This industry can be very screwed up but I love the craft so I keep pushing at it. I've never been so close to my family as I am now. They have become my support group and it feels absolutely amazing to know I have a "safe" zone where I can just let go and be me! I feel like I've never learned so many lessons in such a short period of time. I've experienced huge highs and lows dealing with people in the last 4 months.

I committed myself to acting a year ago in September. I'm very proud of myself for all that I have accomplished. It has been a lot of hard work but rewarding in the end. I never thought I would get jaded but I did. I'm the type of person that doesn't know how to balance my personal life and can immerse myself very easily just in work. Although when the spotlight is gone and you head back to an empty home it can be hard. It's even more hard when you are playing a depressed character and you don't step out of character.

I've learned something VERY important- Balance! I've pretty much taken the last week and a half off to live a life and return to me!

The lesson I've learned: Take time for myself before I crash when I least should!

It is VERY rewarding to finally be auditioning for Hollywood Features. It is actually very unreal to know that I'm auditioning for movies that are sequels or with famous directors.

Often compared to actress Megan Fox for her striking features and raven black hair, Veronika London has the raw talent and ambition that have made her a force to reckoned with in the competitive entertainment industry. Only 22 years old, Veronika has already accomplished a lot in her career and lately things have taken off for this future superstar. Veronika can be seen in The Endings debut music video "Follow", as well as Maxim Magazine's latest modeling competition. Most recently you can catch Veronika on HBO's new series, "Lingerie", a sexy series about beautiful New Yorkers who design, photograph and model lingerie. Truly multi talented, Ms. London has recently written an ebook, set for a Fall 2009 launch, called "Shoot Me Naked: Change the Invisible to Change the Visible". QW: How long have you been acting?

VL: Officially- Since September 2008. By officially I mean- I decided to commit and this a career. I've been really lucky with being constantly working :)

QW: Do you spend most of your time working in the Toronto area or do you travel a lot for work?

VL: It really depends. Right now I've been focusing on work in Toronto as it is known as North Hollywood. I do plan on making a transition to LA sometime next year. For the time being I have a couple of films lines up which require some traveling.

QW: Do you think that it is necessary for an actor to relocate to New York or LA to have a successful career in the entertainment industry?

VL: Yes! Toronto is a great place to start and get your "packages" ready. The big networks are in the states. By packages I mean- build a strong resume, reel and network.

QW: You graduated from George Brown's prestigious theatre program. Do you find that formal training really benefited your career thus far?

VL: Yes, training is essential! Even though it was for theatre some aspects of script analysis and performing are the same.

VL: It is mandatory. This is an over saturated business- talent is what will keep you working at the end of the day!

QW: What has been your favorite project thus far?

VL: Right now I'm working on a Independent Feature Film called "How to cook like a Pornstar". I usually play darker roles and this time this role is pure comedy! I'm having such a great time with it! My favorite project thus far as it is different than the usual roles I play.

QW: Were there moments of frustration when you wanted to give up the highly competitive career of acting?

VL: Never, I've never wanted to give up. Perhaps I got frustrated but then I got mentors and changed my support team. Now it's smooth sailing. The people around you make a huge impact on your success.

QW: How did you overcome these feelings?

VL: Surround myself with people that have what I want! Prioritize. Also, sometimes the rejection can get to people. I realized that nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give. If you don't like the way you feel- change the meaning :)

QW: What are your goals and dreams for the future?

VL: My ultimate goal is to walk the red carpet- be in a block buster mega hit movie and play an action hero in the movie.

QW: Any actors or directors you would love to work with?

VL: Quentin Tarantino ( I love all of his movies), Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Christian Bale (their all so intense:)

For the past six weeks I haven't been feeling very aligned. My career is going absolutely great- however my personal life has gotten completely out of control. Friendships ending, dating disasters, lack of spending time with family and a whole bunch of other shit.

On top of that I read a script for an upcoming shoot this October which really got to me. I can't disclose info on the film as I signed a non-disclosure form but I'll put it this way- I had nightmares after reading the script.

Regardless of everything I never once questioned if this is the industry me, I simply had to make some changes and new choices.

Friends come and go, family will always be there, I love to act and everything else- Just let it go.

I'm really grateful for being working on three features right now- signed with an agent I love- have a pr agent that is really helping me and I have my health.

My thoughts, feelings, words and actions are aligned once again and it feels fckn great! No more frustrated Veronika- but rather extremely focused. I feel energized and excited again :)

It is so important to listen to how you feel. Your emotions are guidance to keep you aligned with what you should be doing!

Our Fab Spring Summer 2010 Product Models: Veronika London and Jonathan Steen

When you go traveling abroad and ask the locals what they think of Canadians, the answer is always the same: nice and friendly. So it comes as no surprise that when actress Veronika London (who is also our fabulous product model) was cast and started filming HBO's "Lingerie," she decided to share her love for JUZD with the rest of the cast by dressing them up in a couple of our tees!

Aside from being featured on the the TV series "Lingerie" as the hot model Cindy, Veronika definitely is sure to keep herself busy as she is currently taking on three independent film projects: "How to Cook Like a Pornstar," "Reckless Measures," and "Acid Heads." All three of these films are slated to be released in 2010. But what else does Veronika have in store for 2010? Well, since she was such a delight for our Spring Summer 2009 line, it was obvious that she should be our product model again for the Spring Summer 2010 collection!

When Veronika shared those JUZD tees with the "Lingerie" cast, it caught the eye of Jonathan Steen, who plays the cool and charismatic character "Russ." He too will be featured as a product model for the Spring Summer 2010 collection!

Jonathan, born in Tokyo Japan, says that his dedicated work ethic stems from his acceptance of the Japanese culture. This adopted outlook is also apparent in his commitment to his physique and to the goals of his exclusive personal training clients. He also demonstrates an easygoing, spiritual side, which can be seen through his adaptations on screen and in photo shoots . Like Veronika, Jonathan is also busy and is currently working on two independent feature films: "Dead Genesis" and "BWAS."

When asked of his experience shooting "Lingerie" Jonathan had this to say:

“What a surreal experience! I had an awesome time working with the cast and crew while learning the on-screen dynamic. Walking into my first audition I had no expectations of being casted, even for a walk on role. Scoring a lead role was something I never thought imaginable."

Start Documenting Life

So I signed on to this project called "Who I'm I"- This is London. It is a featured documentary of my life from August 15th 09 till Aug 15- 2010. So Far I have noticed that doing a video diary at the end of the day really makes me more accountable of what I am doing during the day. I am much more aware of what I do and I make my days a lot more productive.

This project is actually really pushing me to do better and be more productive which is great! I would even suggest this exercise to anyone. For one month if you have a goal- at the end of the day write down what went good to achieve your goal and what went wrong. This will make you accountable of the choices you make!

So I've been contacted by this author to sell them 30 images so he can add them to his new poetry book which is being published.

Last year I must have shot about 40 shoots. Most of them were creatives and inspired by David La Chapelle. I love his work!

I've gotten asked to purchase my pictures but never actually considered it till this year when I've had so many offers. Now I must decide which images I will be selling!

We are all pretty much celebrities on facebook. We post all of our private information, all of our pictures and of course our relationship status.

I've come across fake profiles created with my name and with people trying to pass themselves off as me. Also- my friends have forwarded to me accounts were my pictures are completely distorted and I've been forwarded groups where my pics are under "Most Beautiful Woman of the World".

Some people have way too much time on their hands!

Reels- What a hustle!

Their are so many obstacles that can stop an aspiring actor from getting all their marketing tools ready. A reel is one of the most important things to have. The problem with getting your reel updated starts with waiting about 6 months for the material to get edit. Then once it is edit you have to track down the person in charge to get a copy. Once you get a copy most of the time you can't put the material on a public demo reel because it hasn't been released to the public and you have to sign a non disclosure agreement. So you are technically back to square one as you can't really show your material to the public.

I know this can be VERY frustrating but patience is so important in this business. My solution- Always be working- that way, your always meeting new people and still promoting your talent!

Balance- I LOVE TO WORK

"It doesn't matter if it a sunny summer day, Friday night or the party of the year - If I have a goal in mind - I'm tunnel vision and blinded- Everything I do must be towards the task in mind- I'm obsessive- restless and will do whatever it takes- this makes me feel good- I'm married to my work/goal/dream. Who I'm I?- This is Veronika London- I will test myself to the extreme- because I'm curious, it's fun and whatever frightens me- I thrive off that feeling and dive in."

Since grade one I have always asked my teachers for extra work. For some reason I LOVE to work!! This habit has carried on throughout my teens and now my early 20's. I love being obsessed about a topic and pushing myself to absolute extreme!

This in return has caused some problem with my relationships and friendships and sometimes my health because I become so immersed at the task at hand.

I decided a month ago to take Sundays off to spend time with friends and family but that didn't last very long!

I love to work and I'm not going to change! Turns out - others have confessed that they wish they were more disciplined like me!

Isn't that funny?? People tell me I work too much and then they tell me they wish they were more like me!!! Solution: Surround myself with excellence and with people that work just as hard as me! You are who your friends are! Join them or find a new group! I choose to find a new group and stick to my mentors :)

Leverage off People/ Situations

I am a big fan of using all your resources and leveraging off people. Some people might see this to be a bad a thing like your using them but I think if a mutual agreement is made then their is nothing wrong with it.

People do this all the time, especially in Hollywood! You date people to get more exposure, you do something outrageous for publicity because you have a film coming out or you leak a sex tape to get on the map... lol...

It's all about leverage! I got some really good advice from a very smart cookie (my co-star Lana Tailor). She mentioned "Get the titles then you can do whatever you want". This never occurred to me till she mentioned how she uses her Playboy model title for leverage!

I used the HBO tv series to get in magazines and get more exposure. Now I'm getting so much praise...lol...It's "SHOW- Business".

Monologues

I find it is important to always have three monologues ready to perform. One comedy and two dramatic. It is amazing how once you perform a monologue casting will see you different. Based on this 2-3 minute performance they will have a better idea if you can perform the role that they have in mind.

Here are a few things I have learned about monologues:

If you get called in for an audition and they ask for a monologue- make sure it is close to the character you are reading for.

If you are meeting agents for the first time and they ask you for a monologue - make sure you perform one that will sell the type of image you want to sell.

Change monologues if you no longer feel them.

Do you homework- People know when your in the moment.

Back to Basics- Barter

I've noticed in the indie world everyone does favors for everyone. Lessons I have learned:

#1 Bank from favors. Ultimately people are your best resource and by helping them, they will be more inclined to help you!

#2- Lend your face for exposure. Publicity is expensive. If you can get it for free - exploit it!

Best way to barter- Know what you want and find out exactly what the other party wants so it's a win win situation :)

I remember reading the newspaper and Jessica Simpson said "It would suck to have an interview when you say you are with someone and so in love and then when the magazine gets published a month later - your single". I found this so interesting.

After I came across some tabloid pics that were taken of Jonathan Steen and I - I learned the importance of being more discreet with who I am with. Jonathan and I are friends but I remember during that time period I had several interviews with different magazines and of course I was asked about my relationship status.

I've come across some interviews where things get all mixed up- I wonder what is going to get published this Fall 2009.

If everyone is so curious about who I am interested in- it is James Franco! Spread that!...LOL

Replacing People- On set

In my industry you may cast for a gig but it doesn't necessarily mean you will be shooting the final product.

I've only come across this scenario a couple of weeks ago. I got cast for a series as a supporting role however got replaced due to ethnicity issues and I didn't look good beside the lead. It didn't bother me because my out take on things is "Everything happens for a reason and it is meant to serve us".

However not all people see it the same. I remember when I first booked my first lead for the music video "Follow" by "The Ending" I found out that they dropped the lead actress and took me on because they liked my "rock" look more and I was on the promotional material. The actress that got dropped found me on facebook and shared her unpleasant thoughts.

Currently I am shooting a feature and I found out that the lead actress that shot the short film of the same project wasn't very happy that I was lead. Turns out that she joined the union and can no longer shoot Independent Feature Films. Although at the time that she signed to shoot the short she was under the impression that she would also be the lead in the Feature Film.

Needless to say her comment on facebook "Good luck trying to act as good as me on the short film" didn't affect me. Instead, it motivated to give it 110%.

Why can't people be more positive and think "Something better will come along". ....People..wtf..welcome to the entertaiment industry....nothing is certain!

1. You wrote a book called "Secret Diary of a call girl" Were you a call girl?

No, however in the entertainment I feel like a call girl. You give up your dignity, self respect and privacy in many cases. You wait for agent to call you, you show up to set, do your job (in some cases love scenes, or bare your soul) and then you get paid. Sometimes drugs come into play to handle the emotional aspect of performing very intense scenes.

2. Do you think prostitution should be legalized in places like Albuquerque?

Yes, prostitution is currently illegal and yet it still continues to be a thriving business. Why make these women's lives harder and more dangerous by throwing them through unnecessary leaps and bounds? While prostitution is not the ideal profession for many people it is simply a matter of choice. No one has the right to tell some one what they can and can't do with their bodies, which is the same reason stripping is legal. Even abortion, totally unrelated to prostitution, is currently legal because the fact that it is up to the woman to decide what she should do with her body is recognized by many. So why not prostitution?

3. If it was legalized, what negative effects did you see with your friends and yourself.-

Perhaps more women would get into this type of business. One downfall would be for the woman that get into drugs to put up with the job. The spiral effect of drugs and sex and then more sell yourself more to keep up ones drug habit is total completely destructive.

4. Did you see anything positive? Do I see any positive in it? It's a business- just a transaction. Women are being resourceful.

5. Did you deal with a manager?

I assume they do!
Are they explotive? Everyone exploits everyone. If your an adult in this business it's ones decision how they deal their lives and how they allow others to treat them. Even if your in the corporate world people get exploited all the time.
Should someone who acts as a "pimp" be subject to massive punishment- NO- their just doing their job. I don't see a person that sells cigarettes be getting massive punishment and their killing people.

Final thoughts:

If two adults agree on having sex or getting paid , thats their problem , the only thing I dont agree is getting children involved or holding woman hostages to perform sexual favors. Nowaday people search for sexual encounters on dating sites such as lavalife. It's the same thing- except others choose to get paid!

Friendships- mentors

I came across a very interesting scenario. I'm big on having mentors to move faster to your goal and avoid trial and error. In return, I also help people with my knowledge. I highly believe in Karma- what goes around comes around.

A good friend of mine who has helped me in my personal life and career has asked me to stop asking her for her advice because I was "Somehow getting into too many of her films"...and that we could keep the friendship so long as we don't talk about work! This scenario happened a couple of months ago.

Since then I've experienced different scenarios where I think I'm friends with someone but as soon as we are up against each other in auditions girls turn all catty and mean! I don't get it!

The way I see it- even if you look just like me- I'll still help you! Helping you will serve me and push me to perform better. Either way at the end of the day you can hand someone the exact map to follow on a silver platter and most of the time they won't won't even take it...

I'm really excited to shoot this feature. I feel like I was in a dark place after a recent long term break up and this movie has completely lifted my spirits. I usually do method acting and stay in character while shooting a movie. In this case, this method has completely changed my mood and outlook. I haven't done much comedy but turns out I have great comedic timing. Percephony's role is like Anna Faris from House Bunny! This shoot is going to be so much fun!
Every time I read the script I can't stop laughing...:)

And to top it off I get to be the creative director for the poster! The director was so impressed with the concepts of my photography that he gave me control of being in charge of it. Personally, I love photography and being able to express myself with a still image. I am very much inspired by David LaChapelle's work and this poster will definitely have some similar traits to his amazing work. I look forward to collaborating with Patrik Jandak who is my partner in crime when it comes to taking out of this world pics :)

Not afraid to step outside of the normal

I submit myself for everything when it comes to acting- besides background of course. I have nothing against it, I just choose to not do it! The beauty of submitting yourself and putting yourself out there is so fulfilling- you really never know where each meeting will take you.

I've had cases when I audition where the character is supposed to be a small male person and I get cast, or a voluptuous blondie and I get cast or a butch male and I get cast.

I like to think that I am getting much better with my range which is enabling me to get cast for things that don't normally look like they would. Also , I've had cases when I audition and they like me so much that they create a character.

It is essential to put yourself out there. Besides it is sooooo much fun!
